A CANBERRA PLUMBING BUSINESS COMMITTED TO BETTER WASTE PRACTICES
As a local Canberra plumbing business, we understand that sustainability is not only about large-scale environmental goals. It is also about the everyday systems, habits and decisions that shape how a business operates.
For Water Tight Canberra, this includes being more conscious of what is sent to landfill, improving recycling processes and reviewing waste management as the team continues to grow.
The ACT Government’s waste report notes that being more conscious of landfill waste can reduce current and future emissions, improve operational performance and strengthen reputation among customers, staff and the wider community.
WHAT THE ACT GOVERNMENT REACCREDITATION RECOGNISES
Water Tight Canberra’s reaccreditation forms part of the ACT Government Sustainable Business Program, which supports local businesses in improving waste and recycling practices.
As part of the reaccreditation process, Water Tight Canberra’s waste and recycling activity was reviewed across key areas including landfill, recycling, cardboard, organics and future improvement opportunities.
The report notes completed actions relating to organics and recycling, including recycling, paper and cardboard collection.
SMALL WASTE MINIMISATION STEPS THAT SUPPORT A CLEANER CANBERRA
Water Tight Canberra has continued to make practical changes as the business has grown.
Recent updates include increasing cardboard and waste collection to three times per week. Kitchen scraps are also taken home by team member Shannon for composting, while green waste from site work is disposed of through the Parkwood green waste facility where relevant.
These may seem like small steps, but they form part of a broader commitment to more responsible business practices and better waste minimisation.
WHY RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICES MATTER IN PLUMBING
Plumbing, drainage and gasfitting work often involves more than the visible repair or installation. Behind every job are operational decisions around materials, packaging, green waste, cardboard, old parts, site cleanliness and responsible disposal.
For Water Tight Canberra, clean workmanship and clear communication are supported by organised systems behind the scenes. Waste minimisation is one part of that larger commitment to running a professional, responsible and reliable Canberra plumbing business.
When customers choose a local trade business, they are not only choosing the work completed on-site. They are also choosing how that business operates, how it respects the property, and how seriously it takes its role in the wider Canberra community.
