Quarter-turn wall top shower taps installed in Charnwood

Problem

A Charnwood homeowner reached out to Water Tight Canberra with several issues that had been causing daily frustrations. The bathroom vanity taps were outdated, stiff, and leaking. The shower setup was old-fashioned and lacked flexibility, and outside, the garden tap had also started to drip. On top of that, the client wanted a fresh, modern upgrade: new quarter-turn ceramic disc tapware for the vanity, a stylish handheld showerhead, and reliable fittings throughout.

As the customer’s 5-star review highlighted, they were looking for not just plumbing repairs but also an honest, professional experience — and that’s exactly what Liam and Jonathan delivered.

Assessment

When Liam and Jonathan arrived on site, they conducted a thorough inspection. The bathroom vanity presented a challenge: the old breach assembly was abnormally deep, meaning standard quarter-turn taps would not seat properly and kept spinning freely. In situations like this, quick fixes won’t cut it — the only proper solution is to replace the entire breach assembly to guarantee long-term reliability.

The shower was ready for a practical upgrade. The existing fixed head was replaced with a handheld unit, offering versatility and water efficiency. Outdoors, the garden tap was replaced to stop the constant drip and ensure a watertight seal.

What We Did

Here’s the breakdown of the completed works:

  • Bathroom vanity: Supplied and installed a new breach assembly, complete with spout and stylish quarter-turn taps.
  • Shower: Supplied and installed a flexible handheld showerhead for convenience and functionality.
  • Shower taps: Replaced wall-mounted tapware with quarter-turn ceramic disc taps for smooth, reliable operation.
  • Outdoor tap: Removed the leaking fitting and replaced it with a brand-new garden tap, levelled and sealed.

The entire system was tested for leaks and correct operation, leaving the bathroom refreshed and the client with a reliable outdoor tap.

Materials & Standards

We used high-quality Posh Bristol ceramic disc tapware and a matching handheld shower set, both backed by a manufacturer’s 7-year warranty. Stainless steel flexi hoses were installed under the vanity to comply with Australian plumbing standards and improve serviceability.

Every installation was carried out in line with AS/NZS 3500 standards, ensuring compliance, safety, and durability.

Results

The finished result was a modernised bathroom with smooth-turning taps, a versatile handheld shower, and an upgraded vanity spout that looked sharp and functioned perfectly. Outside, the new garden tap was neatly installed and watertight.

The client’s review said it best:

“Liam and Johno went above and beyond to ensure that I was happy with the installation… Liam was very professional and personable… honest in his assessment, made sure I was aware of all options and provided an accurate quote almost immediately. I give a five-star rating for the overall service and think the boys represented Water Tight with integrity and a genuine focus on customer service.”

That’s the Water Tight difference — skilled workmanship combined with genuine care for the customer experience.

Tips

  • Upgrade to ceramic disc taps: They provide smoother operation and last longer than traditional washers.
  • Consider a handheld showerhead: Not only practical for cleaning and washing, it’s often more water-efficient.
  • Regularly check garden taps: A small drip can waste thousands of litres of water a year.
  • Don’t settle for patch jobs: If fittings aren’t sitting properly, replacing the breach or assembly is the only way to ensure a watertight, long-lasting installation.
